Oye Como Va – Umph! Yes we have mariachis!
Ten years ago when Marina Terra was Plaza Las Glorias, a lovely waitress named Sandra was allowed to take a break from waiting tables and sing two songs with a local Mexican group during the nights she worked. Since then she has taught herself violin.
She is currently singing with “Mariachi Mar de Cortez”. They do a fantastic version of Santana’s “Oye Como Va”. Her favorite musical mariachi piece is “Guadalajara”.
Sandra was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, also the birthplace of mariachi, and has been a San Carlos resident for many years. Last year her group went to Las Vegas and played the Hilton.
