Soggy Peso Bar | opening again in 2025

Soggy Peso Progress Report – November 2024

Our new Soggy Peso construction is 6 months underway, and we have been fortunate to work with amazing professional teams of landlords, architects, engineers, and contractors! Our building experience has just gone up a notch, in size and quality, and even in speed!

The shell is done, with three amazing kitchens, ample bodegas, our very first walk-in cold-room, a comfortable island bar, our first actual office and staff facilities, all with state-of-the-art infrastructure we never had before! Now the builders are at the finishing stages (pouring floors, tiling, bar tops, wiring, etc.) and we are ordering all the industrial equipment and furnishings. Still a multitude of details left and never a dull day in our world!

We don’t have an Opening date scheduled yet, but our hope is to begin the new year with a new Soggy Peso cheer!

We’ve come a long way since the leaky palapa and beer-out-of-a-cooler beginnings 20 years ago, but our goal is to preserve that old Soggy Peso spirit! You can look forward to seeing many of your old favorites: our signature crab tostada, the good ol’ paninis, our famous Margarita, the ring toss game, the original Soggy peso T-shirt, chilling in a hammock, and seeing some of our old staff back. Of course, though, as cycles naturally evolve, we also have some fresh new surprises in store for you, blending the old and the new.

In our rapidly changing and growing community, we look forward to recapturing the local “hang out” vibe and we can’t wait to welcome back so many familiar faces! Thank you always for so much continued support!

PS: Does anyone out there have an Oscar Zepeda painting of the old Soggy Peso that we can photograph? Please call Frank at 622-125-7238.

The Soggy Peso Bar — still the best little beach bar in town! Since 2003, the Soggy Peso Bar, also known as the Hang Out, and simply, “the Peso”, has welcomed residents and visitors alike to San Carlos. Located on the beautiful soft white sands of Algodones beach, there’s no better place to just ‘hang out’.

With both outdoor and covered, open-air seating for up to 170 people, we’re ready to take your order. In the mood for a swim, a crab tostada, and a Tecate, then join us today at the Peso. Here you can swing in one of several hammocks, recline in a lounge chair on the beach, or kick back on a towel on the sand.

Open everyday from 11:00am to 7:00pm, you’ll always feel like you are on vacation at our laid-back restaurant on the beach. Play some beach volleyball, try out our horseshoe pit, or have a go at bocce ball. This is also a great spot to learn kite boarding, or just watch the aerial acrobatics of the daring kite boarders who usually start showing up in the afternoon when the winds pick up.

The Soggy Peso Bar offers stunning views on the best beach in San Carlos. We are the quintessential Mexican beach bar, and our friendly staff is ready to show you a great time!
